Maps > Apps

A 3-part question: Where would you go? How would you get there? What would you do when you got there?

Our answer: Brazil. Fly to cape horn and sail up the South American Coast to Rio de Janeiro (no clue if this is even possible). Eat lots of Brazilian food, visit this, and get on a boat down the Amazon. Terrifying, exhilarating, and exhausting. What a great thing to save our money for! We really do love to travel despite what you might have read. There’s something freeing about intentionally stepping away from your computer or phone, going outside, being somewhere you’ve never been, seeing the world. Maps over apps baby. Maps over apps.

What’s your answer?

I'm an aspiring freelance writer and blogger (which doesn't make a ton of sense when you think about it). I started a blog called Our Marriage Project and one about OSU called Pistols Firing. I love both of them, and I love my wife. And I love Kevin Durant, Explosions in the Sky, Tim Riggins, Blue Moon ale, Twitter, and the state of Georgia.

  1. YES! Agreed. Sometimes you just need to put technology away for a while and go visit places vastly different from the States. Although it is probably contradictory to say that since I am in Europe and on this computer at the same time. Whatever. P.S. Jen I think of you all the time here because it is just cute artsy towns after the other with adorable boutiques and unique buildings. I just feel like you should live here. 🙂

  2. Where would you go?
    – I would go back to Tanzania/Kenya/Uganda

    How would you get there?
    – Fly to Nairobi, then get on a small Kenyan Airway plane to Tanzania.

What would you do when you got there?
    – Climb Kilimanjaro, in full…
    – Missions in local villages..
    – Visit my friend in Kompala, Uganda..
    – Explore Lake Victoria & Zanzibar beaches..

  3. Kilimanjaro in a heartbeat. Maybe see Lane at the top. Travel down to Mozambique taking notes and making friends along the way. Visit with the administrator of chicuque hospital about the establishment of local clinics in surrounding villages and/or ask him for a job and help develop the model for healthcare delivery in that area. Visit other countries: Control C, Control V. I can dream in this post, right?

  4. New Zealand. By plane (in first class cabin, natch). Start at the top (north) with lots of $$, no agenda, and lots of free time — visit their national parks.
