It seems to me that time is where the war of the 21stcentury is being waged.

There is (and always has been) a finite number of hours to be spent by humans every day. I think we can all agree that the increase in the number of ads, blogs, TV shows, sporting events, restaurants, friends, websites, networks, and gadgets over the past 10-15 years has made those hours more valuable than they used to be. Supply (the hours you have) has stayed the same while demand (the number of things demanding your attention) has increased. In economics that means what is being demanded (your time) becomes more valuable.

But this is not an economics class.

We simply want to thank you for spending your valuable minutes and seconds reading what we have to say on this blog.

We don’t always know what we’re talking about but we always try to put thought and effort into what we’re saying so that you (the reader) might walk away changed in some small way…even if that means your day is happier because you’re giggling at something idiotic I did. Especially then.

This blog has helped shape who we are and who we are becoming because it creates a sort of real-world accountability. For example, when we see people now they might ask “hey, how’s that minimalism thing going?”

What we say: “Ohhh…yeah, it’s going pretty well”
What we’re thinking: “Wait, you actually read that, oh, crap….wow, we really do have to get rid of some of our stuff, people are calling us out on it”

It’s sometimes bizarre, always challenging, and mostly, it’s real. So thank you, more than you know, you guys are changing us even as you’re reading about us. Ironic, I know.

And just for fun (and because you’re awesome) we’re giving away a $25 gift card to Amazon so you can read something other than us.

All you have to do is leave your name and favorite blog (other than ours) below. Giveaway lasts until 11:59 EST on Tuesday, November 2

I'm an aspiring freelance writer and blogger (which doesn't make a ton of sense when you think about it). I started a blog called Our Marriage Project and one about OSU called Pistols Firing. I love both of them, and I love my wife. And I love Kevin Durant, Explosions in the Sky, Tim Riggins, Blue Moon ale, Twitter, and the state of Georgia.

      1. Who Knows!
But I like it, cuz it is short and funny! It's like Twitter – with PICTURES! Plus, my mom is a catalog FANATIC< so I have probably seen all the pictures while killing time at her house at one time or another! 😉 Enjoy it…

  1. Hello, my name is Nathan Lee Thiry and I love ourmarriageproject.com, but if I had to choose a 2nd place contestant, I’d choose stuffchristianslike.net.

    1. Thanks for being here! And did TL mention us or something? It seems like a lot of people are coming her via them…we owe them a few fist pumps I guess.

  2. I tell you this every time I see you, but I love reading your blog. It constantly makes me think and re-examine the way I'm doing things, if nothing else to change my perspective. I'm always entertained and challenged.

You guys have been the ones to get me interested in reading blogs, so recently I've picked up several. My favoites: stuffchristianslike.com and bryanallain.com.

  3. I'm loving your blog! You're my most recent follow and I'm always excited to read your new post for the day.

I love reading decorating blogs. My favorite is Young House Love (www.younghouselove.com) by Jon and Sherry Petersik. They have given me so many ideas for my own house!

On the humor side of things, I love Cake Wrecks (www.cakewrecks.com). Always great for a laugh!

  4. you guys are cute. 🙂 other than this blog, i follow mytartelette.com – KILLER recipes. i wish i had enough time to make them all for my husband and me. 🙂

  5. I don’t read too many blogs (yet) but I love to read yours and now todaysletters.com is on my daily list! I’m going to have to check out some of the blogs listed here too!

  6. Been reading your blog for a few weeks and love it. It's on the daily list. Been dying to ask for more back story. Who influenced your marriage spirituality? Ok, I have a long list, but only a few I check every day. In addition to Today's Letters (I read about you in one of their comments) and Stuff Christians Like, I read MarlaTaviano.com. Love her. I think you would too. And NieNie.

  7. My favorite blog is yours… = ) but my second favorite is dreamingbigdreams.net is it's about a family who has 4 children, 3 of which are adopted. It's written by their mom and I love her stories about her family. I feel like I know them sometimes.

ps I really need to win this gift card so I can buy Christmas presents for you guys…so help a sister/sister-in-law out okay? = )

  8. I love yours first thing in the morning, and Peanut Butter Fingers first thing when I get home at night. Love and Healthy eating = 🙂

  9. Favorite blog? That’s a tough question. As I once explained to Kyle, my reader is an absolute train wreck when it comes to subscribed blogs or feeds in general. I’m able to manage all these wonderful sources about as well as I am able to manage my fiance. They manage me just as she does me. With that said, there are several that I can’t ignore with a ‘read all’ click. Two of which being the Porter and Ward blogs (duh, fist pump). One that has stolen my attention and really set the tone for my day lately is http://www.stevenfurtick.com. He’s a lead pastor at Elevation Church in NC. I want to say he was a guest speaker at Life whom got “googled”. His piece on Reverence from Oct 26 was a great wake up call. Go pokes!

  10. Hi, I'm Brooke and I found you guys thru todaysletters.com (love them and yall for honesty, creative writing and challenging us readers!) and i also really like littlegreennotebook.blogspot.com (and I think the Mrs. would like it to being she is all creative and stuff…)

  11. todaysletters.com and kevinandamanda.com

Your blog is what got me addicted though! The other night we had friends over- the three girls talked about you and today's letters for a majority of the night because of your inspiration!

  12. Am I too late?! Hope not….
    My favorite blog is dreambigdreams.net
This precious family are great friends of a great friend of mine… does that make me a crazy blog stalker?!
The mom of the family, Jamie, writes about the day in and day out of a family of 6… 4 kids, 3 of which are adopted. Her humor and sincerity keep me coming back to hear whats going on at the Ivey house and learning from their struggles and successes as a family trying to make an impact in a lost world! The story of their adoption process in Haiti is incredible and a picture of God's faithfulness! GO VISIT THEIR BLOG NOW! 🙂
